Why Are We (Not) Creative?
While the first film seeks out and identifies creativity’s critical stimuli – spirituality, sex, money, fear, nourishment, and ambition – the film Why Are We (Not) Creative? follows Hermann Vaske and his sidekick Michael Madsen on their mission to unmask and identify idea killers. Together they analyze the oppositional forces that act as beta-blockers to creative energy – censorship, self-censorship, bureaucracy, compromise, distraction, and gatekeepers. It's an existential clash between creativity’s angels and demons. The assassins of creativity are many and lurk everywhere.
Creativity may be appear to be under threat, but it is often the threat that makes it thrive. A dialectical synthesis of opposites.
It’s about time we put creativity on top of the pyramid.
