The film celebrates the 40th anniversary of “Das Kleine Fernsehspiel." “Das Kleine Fernsehspiel” is a part of ZDF Television, one of the most important producers for independent film worldwide. Filmmaker Hermann Vaske talks to actors, directors, and producers about their collaboration with “Das Kleine Fernsehspiel.” The film features interviews with directors such as Wolfgang Petersen, Jim Jarmusch, Tom Tykwer, Edgar Reitz, André Wajda, and Rosa von Praunheim, actors like Hannelore Elsner, Nina Petri, Irm Hermann, Joachim Król, and Veit Relin, and producers like Peter Berling and Dieter Kosslick (director of Berlin film festival Berlinale).

The film wouldn’t be complete without a birthday cake as the cream of independent cinema exclaim, “Happy Birthday, Kleines Fernsehspiel!”
