The Fine Art of Separating People from Their Money

Photos by Nick Manley, Lars Hinsenhofen, and Stefan Jonas

"Is it art? Is it business? Should it be shocking? Should it be funny? Could you do better?"

In this unique film, Dennis Hopper sends Hermann Vaske around the world on a mission to find out the crossover between the creative disciplines, and how this is changing the creative and commercial arts. In a visually dazzling, wickedly funny slam of creativity and media obsession, Hermann conducts unconventional kinds of interviews. With insights from Tony Scott, Spike Lee, Paul Arden, and Harvey Keitel, this film shows the proximity between advertising, art, and film.

Hermann Vaske met Dennis Hopper in the mid-90s while judging the Breaking Walls Award at the Berlin Academy of the Arts. Their discussions on art gave rise to a long and prolific creative partnership that began with a trilogy of films entitled The Fine Art of Separating People from Their Money.
